Dr. Kofi A. Kondwani

Kofi A. Kondwani, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Community Health and Preventive Medicine and Family Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia USA. He Chairs the Global Health Task Force, instructs in the Faculty Development Program and is the Course Director for the Introduction to Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Cross Cultural Communications in Health courses.

Dr. Kondwani received his Ph.D. in Psychophysiology from Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa. Dr. Kondwani has served as the Transcendental Meditation (TM) treatment provider in four randomized clinical control trials supported by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. These research projects have investigated the physiological, psychological, and behavioral effects of meditation on stress, behavior, hypertension and cardiovascular disease primarily in African American populations.

For more than thirty years, Dr. Kondwani has taught Consciously Resting Meditation techniques in academic research settings and as a preventive or treatment strategy in hospitals, health clinics, public and private schools, businesses and prisons. His research includes the effect of meditation on stress, elevated blood pressure, and left ventricular mass in hypertensive African American populations.

Dr. Jacqueline McMillan

Jacqueline McMillan, PhD – retired in 2014 as Vice President for Enrollment Management at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio — a public 4-year institution with an enrollment of 19,000 students. During nearly 40 years in progressively responsible administrative and executive roles at the University, she has served as Executive Assistant to the President, Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Associate Dean of the School of Medicine, and director of financial aid, minority affairs, and recruitment in the School of Medicine.

While Dr. McMillan, served as Executive Assistant to the President, her working title was Chief of Staff at the institution of 1,400 faculty and staff. In addition, she directly managed a staff of 5 to run the President’s Office. As Secretary of the Board of Trustees, she functioned as Secretary of the organization. As Associate Provost and then Vice President of Enrollment Management, Dr. McMillan was the founding chief university officer charged with creating and developing a new division and culture for enrollment management at the university. She managed a 150-person team with five distinct units (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Orientation, Enrollment Marketing), several axillary units, five direct reports at the assistant vice president or director level, and the office administrative staff.

As a member of the Consciously Resting MeditationSM leadership team, Dr. McMillan has joined with Dr. Kofi Kondwani in support of his vision of developing strategies to incorporate Consciously Resting Meditation into educational, corporate, health care, etc., settings to increase success and improve rest by decreasing stress.
